DIY - Build an Arcade Machine

It's a childhood dream to build an arcade machine, but the technology and my skills were not a match. This project is possible by the Raspberry Pi card and the Recalbox software.

Blueprint

All plans and designs are from metalslug hadoken website (Raphaël PUCCI de #V2 original author).

This is a great work to start and you can adapt it to your needs (rounded corners or not, doors with hinges or magnets, screen protection with plexiglass or not ...etc)

Some dimensions need to be adapted, for example depending on the thickness you choose may different from the originals.

Cut and assembly

From wood's panels and with some of tools...

Firstly, You need to trace with a pencil the both sides of arcarde machine and assembly the battens on them.

After that you can assembly the both sides panels with the top and bottom panels. To make a solid box I assemble a back and a front panel as you see on the pictures above.

The result is already pretty good :)

Electronics and software

Several parts are old such as screen 24" LED, speakers and so on, are reused to avoid waste

The main component is the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B as you can see aside.

Quad Core 1.2GHz Broadcom BCM2837 64bit CPU 1GB RAM

The set of the joysticks and buttons are connected through USB for the easy connection, nice !

First boot

Recalbox Os

For the software I use " The retrogaming console, All in one! "

Painting and finishing

After the assembly, I hesitated between simply varnishing the wood or painting it in color, in any case the final finish makes all the difference. :)

I decided to paint it black and yellow, keeping the yellow just for the side panels. On them, I painted several references to iconic video games, including Mega Man, Pac-Man, and Metal Slug etc...
